National record holding Orissa woman hurdler Anuradha Biswal settled for the silver medal in the 50th National Open Athletics Championship at Maharaja College Stadium in Kochi today. Nalco employee Anuradha took 14.04 seconds to finish second in 100 metre hurdles, while Tamil Nadu’s G Gayathry won the gold with a timing of 13.88 seconds.
Anuradha’s statemate Parbati Sethi also secured a silver while representing her employer East Coast Railway in the four-day championship. In the women’s discus throw, Parbati finished second with a distance of 46.49 meters, while the gold went to Haryana’s Seema Antil, who threw the disc to a distance of 53.05 metres.
